SCHOOL FUNDRAISERS
Many important activities and resources Blessed Sacrament students are able to enjoy are not covered by the School Board and must be paid for through parent-raised dollars. These include curriculum resources such as JUMP Math workbooks and the Raz Kids reading program, technology in the classroom such as laptops, iPads and smartboards, programs such as Scientists in the School, athletic equipment and uniforms, facilities such as filtered water stations, outdoor recreational structures, and a variety of extracurricular activities. We are very fortunate to have a generous parent community that supports these important fundraising efforts:
Walkathon
The annual Walkathon is typically held in October to coincide with the International Walk to School Month. The walk takes place both at a nearby park and on the school’s turf. Students from all grades participate – from Kindergarten to grade 8. Each class has a theme to make the event more fun and encourage school spirit. The Walkathon is the annual BSCS fundraising initiative to support non-Board funded initiatives. The Walkathon helps to build community spirit because the event includes the participation of all students, teachers, staff and many parent volunteers.
The Walkathon is back and celebrating its 25th Anniversary! Here’s what you need to know.

Spring Social
Blessed Sacrament’s Spring Social is typically held every two years. This fun, and informal, event provides the perfect opportunity for parents to enjoy a night out and mingle with other parents. The Social is also an important fundraiser for the school. Funds raised at the Social help support many important initiatives and activities throughout the year and support special fundraising initiatives such as new school playgrounds.
Fun Fair
The BSCS Fun Fair is held annually in May. With something for everyone, it traditionally includes inflatables and carnival games with prizing. Children can also enjoy a photo booth, face painting and a pet area. Alongside delicious food trucks, there is snow cones and a candy sale. This is a community event supported by parents, students, teachers and local businesses.
